LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: Grooming Future Leaders
Ample opportunities are provided for students to develop their leadership skills. We believe, leaders must first learn to lead themselves before leading others. Therefore, in the primary classes, students are encouraged to develop “Self-Leadership” skills that empower them to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. To sum it up, they take responsibility for themselves. Additionally, students are also provided with leadership roles at the classroom level to lead their peers.
In secondary classes, along with the self-leadership skills and classroom level leadership, potential student-leaders are nominated for the student council to take up leadership roles at the school level. Elections are conducted to choose School Pupil Leaders and Asst. School Pupil Leaders are elected by their fellow students through a systematic election process conducted in line with the general election for the parliament.
Grade 10 students are provided with a unique opportunity to lead the entire school independently for half-day as part of the teachers’ day celebrations on the 5th of September every year. On this day, the student-principal and their team take over the school’s administration, including teaching. These student-teachers would be taking classes for their juniors according to a specially designed timetable.
